Assistant Store Manager, Experienced Goods

Are you an organized, energetic retail professional with a passion for unique finds and community impact? We are looking for an Assistant Store Manager of our dynamic mission-based thrift store, Experienced Goods, which funds the work of a local social service agency, Center for Solace.  The Assistant Manager helps oversee daily operations, supports our team, and ensures our store continues to be a wonderful shopping destination.  This position is 40 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday, and has the potential for growth in management.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

As one of two Assistant Store Managers, you will work with the Store Manager with:

  • Daily Operations & Leadership: Oversee day-to-day store activities, ensuring strict adherence to opening/closing procedures, safety guidelines, and company policies.

  • Team Support: Supervise, support, and motivate our team of store assistants and dedicated volunteers.

  • Customer Experience: Deliver exceptional customer service and confidently handle conflict resolution or problem-solving with a positive attitude.

  • Store Presentation & Maintenance: Keep the store safe, clean, accessible, and visually appealing, while overseeing basic facility maintenance.

  • Technical & Admin Support: Manage and maintain daily tech needs, including cash registers, phone systems, and basic computer maintenance.

  • Strategy & Growth: Help evaluate store performance on a monthly basis, implement smart adjustments, and participate in long-range planning.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications):

  • Retail & Thrift Savvy: Familiarity with the second-hand goods market and retail management principles.

  • People Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills with excellent customer service and team supervision.

  • Adaptability: A multitasker who can work independently or collaborate seamlessly as part of a team.

  • Drive & Creativity: Someone who shows initiative, brings creative problem-solving to the table, and isn't afraid to take charge.

  • Physical Readiness: Capability to comfortably lift up to 40 lbs.
