Moment of Silence

Moment of Silence

Winter is a time

When starlit skies

Tell of bitter cold.

Distant trees stand stiff.

 Lit windows wait.

There is a moment of silence—

Listen for it.

It is not a matter of outer sounds.

It is a matter of inner stillness.

The body halts

The mind stops

A pause between two breaths,

Two steps.
