Dance for Solace: Early Eve Dance Party Fundraisers

  • Saxtons Distillery 155 Chickering Drive Brattleboro, Vermont, 05301 United States (map)

Center for Solace invites the community to Dance for Solace, its seasonal early evening dance party fundraiser, with a totally tubular throwback twist: an 80s-themed dance party. Join us on Thursday, September 10, from 6:00–8:00 pm at Saxtons Distillery (155 Chickering Drive, Brattleboro) and dance your way into fall.

Fall back to the ‘80s. Move your body. Be home by 9.

As we dance our way into fall, our September event features donuts for purchase by this month’s sponsor, the Mermaid Collective. Dance ‘n Donuts! Add in a cash bar and what could be better?

This autumn edition brings the vibrant energy of the 1980s straight to Brattleboro. DJ Mālama returns to the decks to spin a righteous, high-energy set spanning synth-pop, new wave, classic rock, and all manner of lively, feel-good throwback tracks guaranteed to keep the floor moving and the spirits soaring. Attendees can shake off whatever is weighing on them in a joyful, welcoming space.

The dance floor is open to everyone and intentionally centers women, queer, trans, and nonbinary community members—because everyone deserves a safe place to exhale, move, and feel strong.

For those who want to dress the part, Center for Solace's beloved thrift store, Experienced Goods, will feature a special rack of 80s threads. It is the perfect excuse to find neon gear, leg warmers, or acid-wash denim before the party kicks off.

Admission is $15–$40 in advance here or at the door, with all proceeds benefiting Center for Solace’s many free programs. A cash bar and donuts from Mermaid Collective will be available for purchase.

The mission of Center for Solace is to offer services and support — free of charge — for serious illness, hospice, and grief, while engaging our community in conversations about mortality and life. In every season, the organization believes in creating spaces for both reflection and joy.
