Community Education

With 45 years experience, Center for Solace offers trainings, discussions, events and workshops for the community to come together and talk about death. These discussions offer a new perspective for many not just on death, but on the life we choose to live while we have it.

Community Eduation Resources

  • Volunteer Trainings

Make a meaningful impact by offering your time and skills. Our volunteers play a vital role in bringing comfort and care to those in need. We offer volunteer trainings in several programs in the Spring and Fall of each year.

  • Death Cafés

Death Cafés are a national program where people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea, and discuss death.

A Death Cafe is a group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session.

We will be revitalizing our Death Café events in 2025. Stay tuned!

  • Kitchen Table Conversations

Kitchen Table Conversations are more in-depth discussions around a certain topic. Everyone is welcome to come and offer their perspective on topics like Act 39, green burials, or specific Center for Solace programs.

Programs expected to start up in 2025. Stay tuned!

  • Events

Center for Solace offers special events, panel discussions, movie showings, and workshops on various topics for both volunteers and the general public. Get involved or join our mailing list to learn more.

“I can’t say that death is always the most joyful topic to discuss, but it’s been so important to feel more comfortable with the idea and what I want my end to look like.”

-Joe Heslin
